We're holding our first outdoor recorders' meeting in a while at the National Trust's fantastic Weir Garden!

We’re very excited to be working in partnership with The National Trust for this event. They are keen to develop contacts within the biological recording community in Herefordshire, to help inform nature recovery and support biodiversity across their Herefordshire properties. At this meeting you’ll be able to enjoy the following opportunities:

• Free admission to the whole site
• Access to areas and habitats normally closed to the general public – alongside the garden this includes wood pasture and parkland, floodplain meadow, woodland, lowland meadow, streams, ponds and wet woodland, orchard, the boathouse and barn
• Contribute your suggestions and expertise regarding management of the site to benefit nature

Here’s what the day will look like:

• 10:00am: Welcome and introduction
• 10:30am: Weir Habitat Restoration Project tour with Tim Pyne (NT Ranger)
• 11:30am: Recording session 1
• 1:00pm: Lunch (under the trees by the river)
• 1:30pm: Recording session 2
• 2:45pm: Review of findings, wrap-up, and thank yous

The recording sessions and lunch will be flexible – you’re welcome to explore the habitats that most interest you, so if you find yourself absorbed in recording at the opposite end of the site come lunchtime there’s no obligation to return to the riverside unless you would like to!

Parking will be in the main visitors’ car park, and there are toilets on site. Although dogs are usually allowed at the Weir Garden, on this occasion in order to maximise our chances of seeing as much as possible, please leave your dog at home.
