This talk will look at the large and diverse order of Diptera or True Flies, from the perspective of a general naturalist rather than a specialist. It will focus on the dipteran families and groups where identification is straightforward and where biological recording by non-specialists is valuable. It will provide a range of identification tips and a number of specimens will be made available to be examined under low-powered microscopes. It will also provide signposting to various resources for further study.
