For the first time this year, Herefordshire is joining the City Nature Challenge - an exciting global event to observe and record the biodiversity of living things! Record as many species as you can in Herefordshire, April 25th to 28th using iNaturalist and they'll be added to our county's total for the challenge. You can record any wild species, anywhere in the county – your garden, a local park, urban or rural – it all counts!

Started in 2016 as a competition between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the City Nature Challenge (CNC) has grown into an international event, motivating people around the world to find and document wildlife in their own cities. Run by the Community Science teams at the California Academy of Sciences and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHM), the CNC is an annual four-day global bioblitz at the end of April, where cities/regions are in a collaboration-meets-friendly-competition to see what can be accomplished when we all work toward a common goal.

We'll be running training and providing more information on our website and social media in the run-up to the CNC so stay tuned!
